Hello Gd Afternoon!

I think Pulau Ubin needs no introduction! It is the last rural frontier of Singapore territory. If you are wondering what Singapore looks like before independence, or the early years of post Singapore independence, then Ubin is the place!

I know this is a bit rush, But will Monday 07 May 2007 be an accomodating date? I know ktv is on this date, and replacing ktv with a physical activity to Ubin might draw protests..haha..but i guess when everybody is still fresh out of the mugging caves, a bit of cycling can de-stress! As for the time, I know it is early: 9am( don't kill me..)at tanah merah control station, we can take bus service no 2 to Changi Village terminal. Then we will take a bumboat from Changi Jetty to Ubin Jetty. Bring plastic bags also, in case sea-sick prone people might need to vomit..haha..really really..just in case..

If we need to buy 100PLUS or other isotonic drinks.. BUY BEFOREHAND on mainland Singapore. Don't be fooled bY assuming that Ubin being a rural place means "rural" prices.. The prices of drinks at the stalls there can be skyrocking..(Maybe NTUC should open a branch there..)

What I did last time was to bring bread, own water and own food. Bring some ok? If not we may have to pluck fruits from the trees there..haha..BRING OWN WATER is very important! You can't drink from the tap there(NON-POTABLE)!

Sounds like a tourism brochure from the Singapore Tourism Board huh? hehe..K lah, Ubin is not that bad, the last time I went there was like 2003.. When I was in Secondary school, NPCC always goes there, so last time I can move around the place like a villager there..now I think I a bit "lao you" liao..nvm, there's always a map!

If not other possible dates: 17, 18, 19 20th May, though the date seems far..and interest might wane off..

You know, life can seem pretty shitty at times when everything starts to go wrong. Like when you mug, and feel resentment towards it, you feel you cant cramp everything in, nothing goes in. The lecturer is too demanding the exam format is too unfair.

stop and think again. This is but a part of life, when one enters a rough patch, one usually forgets the smooth sailing and happier moments early on.

And that a thunderstorm doesnt last forever or that a rainbow will appear at the end of it. Even the ice age has to come to an end.

Was pretty inspired and touched by some stuff that i found while i am feeling really negative.

Here it is, do take the time to check it out, will be worth that 6 mins of your time.

I try to be a good father. Give my kids mulligans. Work nights to pay For their text messaging. Take them to swimsuit shoots.

But compared with Dick Hoyt, I suck.

Eighty-five times he's pushed his disabled son, Rick, 26.2 miles in Marathons. Eight times he's not only pushed him 26.2 miles in a Wheelchair but also towed him 2.4 miles in a dinghy while swimming and Pedaled him 112 miles in a seat on the handlebars--all in the same day.

Dick's also pulled him cross-country skiing, taken him on his back Mountain climbing and once hauled him across the U.S. On a bike. Makes Taking your son bowling look a little lame, right?

And what has Rick done for his father? Not much--except save his life.
This love story began in Winchester , Mass. , 43 years ago, when Rick Was strangled by the umbilical cord during birth, leaving him Brain-damaged and unable to control his limbs.

"He'll be a vegetable the rest of his life;'' Dick says doctors told him And his wife, Judy, when Rick was nine months old. ``Put him in an Institution.''

But the Hoyts weren't buying it. They noticed the way Rick's eyes Followed them around the room. When Rick was 11 they took him to the Engineering department at Tufts University and asked if there was Anything to help the boy communicate. ``No way,'' Dick says he was told. ``There's nothing going on in his brain.''

"Tell him a joke,'' Dick countered. They did. Rick laughed. Turns out a Lot was going on in his brain. Rigged up with a computer that allowed Him to control the cursor by touching a switch with the side of his Head, Rick was finally able to communicate. First words? ``Go Bruins!'' And after a high school classmate was paralyzed in an accident and the School organized a charity run for him, Rick pecked out, ``Dad, I want To do that.''

Yeah, right. How was Dick, a self-described ``porker'' who never ran More than a mile at a time, going to push his son five miles? Still, he Tried. ``Then it was me who was handicapped,'' Dick says. ``I was sore For two weeks.''

That day changed Rick's life. ``Dad,'' he typed, ``when we were running, It felt like I wasn't disabled anymore!''

And that sentence changed Dick's life. He became obsessed with giving Rick that feeling as often as he could. He got into such hard-belly Shape that he and Rick were ready to try the 1979 Boston Marathon.

``No way,'' Dick was told by a race official. The Hoyts weren't quite a Single runner, and they weren't quite a wheelchair competitor. For a few Years Dick and Rick just joined the massive field and ran anyway, then They found a way to get into the race Officially: In 1983 they ran another marathon so fast they made the Qualifying time for Boston the following year.

Then somebody said, ``Hey, Dick, why not a triathlon?''

How's a guy who never learned to swim and hadn't ridden a bike since he Was six going to haul his 110-pound kid through a triathlon? Still, Dick Tried.

Now they've done 212 triathlons, including four grueling 15-hour Ironmans in Hawaii . It must be a buzzkill to be a 25-year-old stud Getting passed by an old guy towing a grown man in a dinghy, don't you Think?

Hey, Dick, why not see how you'd do on your own? ``No way,'' he says. Dick does it purely for ``the awesome feeling'' he gets seeing Rick with A cantaloupe smile as they run, swim and ride together.

This year, at ages 65 and 43, Dick and Rick finished their 24th Boston Marathon, in 5,083rd place out of more than 20,000 starters. Their best Time? Two hours, 40 minutes in 1992--only 35 minutes off the world Record, which, in case you don't keep track of these things, happens to Be held by a guy who was not pushing another man in a wheelchair at the Time.

``No question about it,'' Rick types. ``My dad is the Father of the Century.''

And Dick got something else out of all this too. Two years ago he had a Mild heart attack during a race. Doctors found that one of his arteries Was 95% clogged. ``If you hadn't been in such great shape,'' One doctor told him, ``you probably would've died 15 years ago.'' So, in a way, Dick and Rick saved each other's life.

Rick, who has his own apartment (he gets home care) and works in Boston, and Dick, retired from the military and living in Holland, Mass. , always find ways to be together. They give speeches around the country and compete in some backbreaking race every weekend, including this Father's Day.

That night, Rick will buy his dad dinner, but the thing he really wants to give him is a gift he can never buy.

``The thing I'd most like,'' Rick types, ``is that my dad sit in the chair and I push him once.''

Dear friends,

You guys ARE the colours in my Uni life, and play important roles in a part of my life. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you guys over to my place( an open air function area) for a buffet dinner this Sunday 1st April(no, it's a NOT joke), in celebration of my 21st birthday. Gosh, age is catching up real fast. Beside the NUS bunch(which is only u guys, oh and my cousin), my relatives and family will be present. My darling Charlie will be here to entertain you guys too. Dinner will be starting at 6pm. Do sms me who's coming, and also, if you guys wanna come over earlier for any reason, let me know in advance too. I should be in town early afternoon with my cousins on that day. Should be home by 5pm. Hee...

Directions to venue:

From Clementi: take bus 173 from interchange, alight after the old Millenia Instituite stop cross over the road. My condo is just right beside a Canadian International School.

From Boon Lay: Take 174 faster. Alight at the shell station after a whole stretch of terraces, cross the road, turn right, walk straight(you will see Bt Timah CC), walk ard the corner and straight, turn in to the first condo(High Oak) on your left.

From Orachrd: Take 174 from behind Takashimaya and alight at the bus-stop opp shell station, 2 stops after Bt Timah Market. Walk straight, turn left upon corner and into the first condo on your left.

From my condo guard house: Turn right and walk through an empty void, follow the path, up the stairs and then turn left. That is where the open area is. :)

hey guys!! just posting here to ask if you guys wanna come for a dance concert this sunday (25th March) at NUS University Cultural Center at 7.15. It's a combined hall concert put up by the halls lah, so got a lot of kinds of dances.. contemp, lyrical,chinese dance,hip hop and many many more lah. most importantly it's free!!! and i still have quite a few tickets on my hands. so if all wanna come along just drop me a msg or sth k. btw got quite a few of the simplyscandalicious gang ppl going also, so if u wanna make yr sunday night a little more interesting come down k. hope to see ya all on sunday.. i'll be performing! =)

this is agent ahboh reporting. apparently one of our fellow scandal monger ahteckos has met with a crisis! ahteckos has a love rival! oh my mama!

(man! this is him! regconise our enemy!)
as everyone knows, mogu and teckos got to know each other in sem one during our chinese tradition class(same tutorial and lecture, aww how sweet...).
we had to work on a project, and there was this extra person who joined our group. he is non other than the infamous penguin.
his intentions were unclear initially why he wanted to join our group, but through agent ahboh's ingenious analysis...we have come to a conclusion that Penguin actually also has a crush on lovely Mogu, but he knows that she is already taken by *coughcough*.
so...he joined our project group, in hope of getting close to teckos, to know him better, to find his weak spot, to GET RID OF HIM, so that he can be together with mogu!
oh my mama! what a cunning shrewd fella!
we cannot let such a tragic happen to our teckos okies! we must save him!

When leaving for lecture we bummed into each other. OUUUUUU!!!!~~ Was walking behind him with my cousin to Central lib. He cut my queue at the food store near AS6, after which he looked at me. (ahhhhh...faints) His 10 cents coin dropped while he was paying. I was THE ONE who picked it up and returned it to him. Looking at me in the eyes(got chemistry ok!), smiling to me. Wah~~~ faints... From one very trustworthy source, the informer informed Simply Scandalous Inc.™ that our very own ah zhu is seeking a bodyguard.

Words have it that the number of applicants numbered in the hundreds, and that may very well be an understatement.

From ANOTHER very trustworthy source, KayPoh™ Productions are interested in making a reality show based on this. The name of the show is not yet decided but it is believed to be "Project: Ah Zhu Bodyguard". It would be the first of its kind in the region and perhaps globally, a reality show to select the perfect bodyguard for ah zhu....

From yet another very trustworthy source, there has been an increase in the number of people(all males) going to the gym and taking up martial arts classes.

Sources pointed out some outstanding ones like....

hey, ah zhu here again. sorry for floodin this blog, but i think you all can guess how boring my lecture is alrd. i am here to rant! cause why? i jus got sabo-ed by kenneth, tingwei and gareth! ok here the story goes, being nice, i brought biscuits for them to eat during lecture, and what do they do? they pass the extra biscuit to this random stranger that is sitting at the end of our row and says it's from me!! me! my goodness. how am i supposed to turn up for econs lecture from now on. i need a cap now to hide my face man. (kenneth says don't act cute. ah zhu says thanks man!) so now ah teck thinks our lecture is damn happening and is goin to crash next week. i am pretty sure there'll be even more crazy stuff happening next week. help!!

hello ppl!!! kenneth here.. so bored in econs lect so juz post sth up lorz.. hiak hiak hiak!! anyways in response to ah zhu's post prior to mine.. she says she's bz wif dance (wat else!) wat else.. i noe wat else.. hehehe.. our ah zhu has such a big fan base here in NUS, of cos she's gotta spend time managing it n trying to keep all the fans happy :) anyways hope all the fans go support her on sat, pray she wins the competition!! yay!!

ah zhu says hi! kenneth says hi too! as usual he's damn fascinated with whatever i have in my laptop and on my msn list. =P i am damn bored in my microecons lect now. cannot understand what the lecturer is saying, he's jus rambling on and on in his super thick accent. help! alright, haven seen you all peeps arnd for some time alrd. -sobs- i've been busy with dance (what else!) these few weeks but starting next week onwards i would be a lot free-er so yay!

anyways. if you all are free this weekend come down to junction 8 at arnd 4pm to support me and ching cheng in our dance competition k. our item is pretty cute lah, we'll be toys in a music box, like those ballerina in the music box that kind, except that obviously we are not doing ballet lah. heh. so if you all are bored of mugging at home or feel sian come down k!
